There are so many different colors and sizes of eggs, although they are mostly the same shape. When we shop for them, the only thing we have to ask ourselves is what they will be used for, what recipes, and so on. In this way we can decide whether we will need the jumbo or medium size.

So, what came first, the chicken or the egg? Well, you need a chicken to get an egg, and you need a rooster to get more chickens. And so the mystery remains. Chicks are often available for sale at certain feed stores in spring. If you buy one, you will see that it is more than a pet.

There are a lot of different types of chickens, and they all lay different ones but similar. When you buy a chick, it needs to be kept warm and well fed, until it is time for them to start laying. They need a hot lamp, and often other chicks to keep them warmer. And they will go through a lot of feed at this stage, and as they grow.

Various blues, greens, and browns are produced by different species of chickens. At a chicken farm you can see these colors, and they look like the makings of an Easter basket.

They even taste a little different when you purchase the eggs from a farm. You can surely see the difference. They even look healthier to eat, with bright yellow yolks. And if the farmers raising the chickens intend to feed their families with these, there are no hormones or other medications given to the hens. They are free range and natural.

Two or more ingredients makes a recipe. But some are so involved, you wish you never began cooking them. The ingredients go on forever. Eggs Are Good For Us

When you go to the supermarket to buy eggs, you are faced with a variety of different sizes and colors. The shape, well, that is generally the same. You think of what you will make with them, as far as recipes, to decide whether to purchase medium sized or large ones. Maybe you will need the jumbo size.

You rarely think of what the farmer and the chicken went through to get them. Well, if you have ever seen the little chicks they sell at certain times in the spring, you can see what happens when they are fertilized. If you want them, all you have to do is to buy a chicken. If you want more chickens, you need to buy a rooster.

So the chicks are brought home to the farm, and they are set up in a very warm environment. The more the farmer buys, the warmer they will keep each other. A bright light needs to be on them all the time at this point, and they will eat a lot of chick feed. As they grow, they become the age to lay eggs. Different types of chickens lay different eggs.

If you have bought them from a home or farm that has all types of chickens that produce them, you will see from the variety that they sometimes look like they are for Easter. There are actually light blue and light green ones in the egg carton.
